Located in Austin, Texas, Nitrosphere was founded with a passion for bringing innovative solutions in compression technology to the market.
Emily Bersin is the CEO and co-founder of Nitrosphere. Her tenure working on SQL Server tools started with the industry leading backup tool Litespeed at Imceda. At Quest Software she continued raising the bar for backup tools until moving on to Idera as an expert in SQL Server and Windows performance. She is a graduate of Tufts University with a dual degree in Computer Science and Spanish as well an All-American in track and field.
Mark Wright is a co-founder of Nitrosphere and chief architect of the company’s products. Mark has spent much of his career pioneering database management products at companies including BMC Software and Quest Software, where he developed the industry leading products Change Manager and LiteSpeed for SQL Server. He currently has three patents pending, covering virtualization and compression technologies. From learning to push the limits of hardware before even entering high school, Mark has continued to use his skills to get the most performance possible out of the hardware available.
Fred Johannessen is the chairman and co-founder of Nitrosphere. Previously, Fred was Vice President of Business Development at ScienceLogic, and has also held executive positions at BMC Software. He has spent more than 25 years in the software industry, having filled a variety of roles including managing development teams, leading marketing and strategy teams, and business development. He has built thriving user communities and ecosystems, been a corporate blogger, is widely published, and has a patent pending. Fred began his career as a software developer after graduating from University of Washington with a degree in math and computer science.
